Common is a personal prayer companion app. This policy explains what data the app collects (very little) and how it is used.
Common does not collect or store any personal information. The app keeps your settings and progress locally on your device only:
This data is saved using standard on-device storage and is never sent to us.
If you enable reminders, the app schedules local notifications on your device at the times you choose. These notifications are generated entirely on-device — no notification server or third-party push service is used, and no data leaves your phone.
The King James Version (KJV) is included in the app and works entirely offline. If you select another translation — the New International Version (NIV), New International Reader’s Version (NIrV), or New American Standard Bible (NASB 2020) — the app retrieves those passages through the YouVersion Platform, a Bible service operated by Life.Church:
Each request sends the scripture reference being looked up (e.g., “John 3:16”) along with your device’s IP address, as is normal for any internet connection. No account, name, or other personal information is transmitted. Retrieved passages are cached on your device to minimize repeat requests.
This service has its own privacy policy (youversion.com/privacy); we encourage you to review it if you use those translations.
Common does not use analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services. The only third-party network connection the app makes is to the YouVersion Platform for the licensed Bible translations described above. Features built on Apple system frameworks — reminders, widgets, Shortcuts and Focus — run on your device and send no data to us.
The app does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
If this policy changes materially, the updated date at the top of this page will reflect it.
